Following the instructions of the National Election Commission, the Special Intensive Revision of Voter List i.e. SIR has started across the state. Asansol subdivision is no exception. An all-party meeting was held with representatives of all political parties recognized by the National Election Commission on the issue of SIR in the South and North (280 and 281 respectively) and Kulti (282) assemblies of the subdivision. The all-party meeting held at the office of the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (Head) in Asansol was presided over by the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (Head) Biswajit Bhattacharya. Other officers of the department were present.
A detailed discussion was held with the representatives of all political parties present in the meeting on all issues related to SIR. The discussion raised issues such as the progress of distribution and collection of enumeration forms, the role of booth level agents (BLA) and cooperation of voters in collecting forms, opening of help desk for SIR, appointment of additional BLOs in booths with more than 1200 voters, etc.
