Jyoti Prakash Mukherjee, Asansol -:
What can be called – transition from the streets to the streets! It is not an easy task to achieve recognition of excellence for the country from a street school to the world stage. With the idea of his innovative teaching model, he brought these three generations – children, parents and grandparents – together in the arena of education. Here, children teach adults. This method builds equality, self-respect and solidarity between generations in society. The streets, walls and the shade of trees are his schools. People’s lives became textbooks. This is how Deep Narayan Nayak, a teacher of a primary school in Jamuria, Paschim Bardhaman, made the country shine in the world. In the area, he is known as the ‘Road Master’ and the ‘Human Blackboard’.
Recently, the Global Educator Award-2025 was held jointly by the University Pendidikan Sultan Idris of Malaysia and the Malaysian government. Among the 244 candidates and 81 finalists from 57 countries, Bengali Deep Narayan Nayak was awarded the ‘Avant Garde Teacher Award’ as one of the world’s best teachers. He was presented with a memento and certificate as recognition. He was also given five thousand dollars for his research work. The officials and staff of the Indian Embassy in Malaysia are overwhelmed by his recognition.
Incidentally, Deep Narayan has previously been awarded several awards and honors including the Global Teacher Prize (UNESCO-Varkey Foundation, Top 10), Hundred Innovation Award (Finland), Global Teacher Award, Banga Gaurav Samman.
Deepnarayan, who was excited to receive the award, said, “This recognition is not just mine, but every child, every village, and every dreamer in Bengal.”
