Ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections, administrative preparations in the Paschim Bardhaman district have reached their peak. On Friday, District Magistrate Ponnambalam S held a significant press conference at the District Administrative Building in Asansol. He stated, “Adequate measures have been taken, in accordance with the Election Commission’s guidelines, to ensure a free and peaceful election in the district. Strict security arrangements have been put in place across the 2,504 polling booths spanning the district’s nine Assembly constituencies. An additional booth will be set up at each polling station where the number of registered voters exceeds 1,200. In addition to establishing a total of 243 women-managed (‘Pink’) booths across the district, nine ‘Model Booths’ will be set up. Furthermore, one special booth will be managed exclusively by polling personnel with special needs.”

He stated, “Central forces are already conducting extensive route marches across various parts of the district, with a particular focus on sensitive areas. Several additional companies of central forces are expected to arrive in the district in the coming days.” Furthermore, he presented various other details regarding the district’s electoral process to the journalists.

At the conclusion of the press briefing, the District Magistrate appealed to all political parties to conduct their election campaigns peacefully. He expressed optimism that, through the spontaneous participation of the district’s residents, this “festival of democracy” would be successfully concluded.
