Women from a self-help group made eco-friendly Rakhi using kachuripana

Jyoti Prakash Mukherjee, Asansol, West Burdwan -: When the shackles of pollution have bound us all around, when we are losing common sense due to the colorful advertising surprises, just then, women from a self-help group in Pandaveshwar Haripur Panchayat area of West Burdwan appeared before the common people with a collection of eco-friendly Rakhis. They made Rakhis from neglected kachuripana. The locals were impressed by this innovative Rakhi. They have already supplied 700 rakhis to Pandaveshwar Panchayat Samiti and 500 to Haripur Gram Panchayat. Besides, there is a huge demand for these rakhis among the local residents. As a result, the income of the women of the self-help groups has increased a lot. They hope that the demand for these rakhis will increase further in the future. It is learnt that, at the initiative of the local panchayat, a non-governmental organization provided 15 days training to women of the concerned self-help group on making rakhis, bags and other eco-friendly items from kachuripana. Keeping in mind the Rakhi Bandhan festival, they started making rakhis using kachuripana. Group members Mandira Sutradhar, Alpana Mandal and others said that apart from kachuripana, paper, glue, chumki, paint, varnish etc. were used as materials to make rakhis. Those rakhis are being sold in the market for 10-20 taka. There is a lot of demand. The locals are full of praise for their innovative rakhis. Haripur Panchayat Chief Asha Mandal said - Keeping the environment in mind, the women of the group have been trained and encouraged in this work. The demand of buyers for rakhis, thalis etc. made from kachuripana is increasing day by day. It is expected that in the future, the income of the women of the group will increase by making all these things. Besides, the environment will be protected to a great extent from pollution. The same tone was heard in the voice of Deputy Chief Gopinath Nag. He is also very happy about the increase in the income of the women of the group. He is also very optimistic about the increase in the income of the women of the group. He hopes that in the future, members of other self-help groups will come forward to make rakhis and other handicrafts from kachuripana.
