Durga Puja Carnival held in Guskara

      Durga Puja Carnival has spread beyond Kolkata city to various district towns under the inspiration of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. A different feeling has been created in the minds of Bengalis. The significance of the Puja has reached a different height. The Mofussal town of Guskara has maintained that significance this time too. On the initiative of Guskara Municipality and with the active co-operation of the general public including the district police administration, the Durga Puja Carnival was organized for the third time at Guskara bus stand on October 4. A total of 9 Durga Puja committees of the city participated in this carnival.

        It has been raining for the last few days. According to the announcement of the Meteorological Department, there is still a possibility of rain. With a lot of anxiety, the Chairman, like a ‘father in debt’, has been supervising the construction of a stage for the guests arriving for the carnival since morning, along with a few councilors and municipal workers. Even then, he fears that the carnival will end up happening due to the weather!

       Finally, all fears were dispelled and the Durga Puja Carnival began. The local MLA Abhedanand Thandar, BDO, DSP (D&T) Subrata Mandal, IC of Ausgram Police Station Shantanu Adhikari and OCs of various police stations, officials of the fire and electricity departments, a group of social workers, and the Vice Chairman of the Municipality Beli Begum and Chairman Kushal Mukherjee, along with all the councilors and many prominent personalities of the city were present on the stage. 

      Meanwhile, nine well-decorated Durga idols appeared one by one from different parts of the city amidst the applause of thousands of enthusiastic spectators present on both sides of the road.

         Earlier, the guests were welcomed with due dignity by the organizers. The entire program was hosted by Subrata Shyam. Due to his hosting, the program reached another height. 

        One of the attractions of this year’s event was the presence of renowned actress ‘Geeta’  Hiya Mukherjee and a child singer. Although there was interest among the spectators to watch the actress, there was no chaos.

      Many people came to enjoy the carnival, the police administration and the OC of Guskara Traffic Guard and civic volunteers controlled the crowd with extraordinary skill. At one point, the chairman and vice chairman were seen controlling the crowd on the way. All in all, the residents of Guskara city and the surrounding areas got the opportunity to enjoy a wonderful carnival.

       Expressing gratitude to everyone for organizing the carnival smoothly, the Chairman of Guskara Municipality, Kushal Mukherjee, said – I was worried about the weather, but everything would be fine! Despite some minor errors, we were successful in the end. He thanked everyone again for helping to successfully complete such a big event.

      However, after the actress appeared, the extra crowd on the stage felt quite strange. Entrepreneurs should be careful in this regard and take a strict stance on this issue in the future.
