Jyoti Prakash Mukherjee, Asansol, Paschim Bardhaman-:
According to the announcement, the hearing phase of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list is scheduled to begin on December 27th and will continue until February 7th.
At a press conference held at the Asansol District Magistrate’s office, Paschim Bardhaman Magistrate S. Ponnabalam said that the hearing process will begin in this district, along with the rest of the state, from Saturday. Those whose names do not have a corresponding entry in the 2002 voter list at the time of submitting the enumeration forms are being called for hearings in this phase. He said that the number of such people in this district is approximately 1.40 lakh.
The District Magistrate clearly stated that those with justifiable discrepancies are not being called for hearings at this time, nor has the district administration received any guidelines from the Election Commission regarding them. They can resolve the issues through the local BLOs (Booth Level Officers). A special App has been uploaded to the BLOs’ mobile phones for this purpose.
He further said that these hearings will be held at a total of 42 centers across the nine assembly constituencies of this district. All political parties have been informed about these hearing centers. Even after receiving the hearing notice, if a voter finds a connection to the 2002 electoral roll, the ERO (Electoral Registration Officer) will consider it a mapping case. No documents will be requested from them. Furthermore, those who are 18 years old and wish to have their names included in the final voter list published on February 14th must fill out Form 6, and those with errors in their names must fill out Form 8.
